About this Course
This course is open to professionals who want to learn more about higher education leadership for a changing demographic or who want to develop their own leadership skills. The idea that people can be taught to lead is not without its skeptics. Reasonable people, including some academics, point to important traits, skills, and attributes observed in many visible leaders and argue that certain qualities required for effective leadership are not easily transmitted. Accepting this premise and concluding that some people are born as natural leaders while others cannot be expected to lead at all is an error on the other end of the logical spectrum. We believe that leadership can be taught and most people have a set of strengths from which to build their own leadership philosophy and approach, and that well-executed leadership development programming can be transformative for organisers and participants.
